Tim Murray conducts Earnest

timMurray_085Gerald Barry’s opera The Importance of Being Earnest opens tomorrow night, 14th June 2013, at the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, conducted by MKAM’s Tim Murray http://www.roh.org.uk/events/r9f8d.  Tim is very excited about being involved in this first staged UK production.  “This version of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ is a kind of wild explosion and re-assembly of the original play.It is extremely enjoyable but at the same time very demanding to conduct, with many, many sudden changes of tempo and meter, and a manic energy that has to be sustained throughout. It’s exhausting and exciting!”

You can get a flavour of the production and the cast, including a clip of Tim conducting the Britten Sinfonia, here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22874910.  Performances at the Linbury Studio Theatre run until 22nd June.
