Valérie MacCarthy - Soprano

Born in New York City, Valérie started her music studies at Mannes School of Music followed by Northwestern University School of Music in Chicago.  She then headed to Italy to study with Margherita Rinaldi and Renata Scotto. She is continuing her studies with Guy Flechter.

She performed the role of Conception in Ravel’s l’Heure Espagnole under the baton of Seiji Ozawa at Tanglewood, Leila in Les Pêcheurs de Perles at London’s Holland Park Opera as well as Damigella L’Incoronazione di Poppea, and a world premiere J’étais dans ma maison et j’attendais que la plui vienne, by Jacques Lenot at the Grand Théâtre de Genève to name just a few.  She also portrayed the role of Renée/Alice in Lost Highway by Olga Neuwirth at the English National Opera in London as well as Musetta in La Bohème; a Baz Luhrmann production on Broadway.

Valérie’s most recent rôles have been Magda in Menotti’s The Consul in Herblay and at the Theatre d’Athénée in Paris, Alice Ford Falstaff at the Festival de Saint Céré, a rôle she will sing again on tour with Opéra Éclaté and Mrs Maurrant Street Scene at the Theatre du Chatelet, a rôle she also covered at the Lieu in Barcelona.
