Kiup Lee was born in South Korea and studied at Kyunghee University in Seoul.  He made his debut at Seoul Arts Centre Opera House as Nathanaël Les Contes d’Hoffmann, going on to sing major roles at home including Nemorino L’elisir d’amore and Rodolfo La bohème, along with concert performances of Beethoven Symphony No.9 and the Mozart Requiem.

After building his career in South Korea, he joined the International Opera Academy in Ghent, to continue his professional studies.  Whilst in Belgium, he sang several traditional and contemporary roles including Don Anchise La finta giardiniera and Günther Triumph of spirit over matter by W. Hendrickx, with performances at venues such as the BOZAR Concert Hall in Brussels and the Vlaanderen Opera House.

After a year in Ghent, he was selected to join the prestigious Académie at the Opéra National de Paris, appearing regularly in the Bastille Amphithéâtre and at the Opéra Garnier.

His recent and future roles include Male Chorus The Rape of Lucretia at the Theatre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, as well as Ferrando Così fan tutte, Belmonte Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Tamino Die Zauberflöte¸ Elvino La sonnambula, Nemorino L’elisir d’amore, Tonio La fille du regiment and Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi.
