Jean-Kristof Bouton - Baritone

Baritone Jean-Kristof Bouton was born in Canada studied both in Montreal and Bucharest.

After several years on contract singing multiple major roles with the National Opera Iasi in Romania, he has now based himself in London.  His recent roles include Silvio I Pagliacci, Alfio Cavalleria Rusticana, Enrico Lucia di Lammermoor, Marcello La Boheme, Belcore L’Elisir d’Amore, Figaro Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Huascar and Adario Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes, Achille The Trojan Woman by Liz Swados and Don Giovanni Don Giovanni, (all for the National Opera Iasi).

Away from Romania, he has also sung many roles in France including Escamillo Carmen for the Opéra de Nice and in Paris, Valère Le medecin malgré lui for Opéra St Etienne) and Mercutio Roméo et Juliette for Opéra de Toulon.  Whilst a student in Canada, he also sang the roles of Smirnoff in Walton’s The Bear, Malatesta Don Pasquale and Sharpless Madama Butterfly.  He has also performed regularly in concert, more recently as the soloist in a series of performances of Carmina Burana.

Forthcoming performances in 2021 include Escamillo Carmen for the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
