Ahlima Mhamdi - Mezzo-Soprano

The Franco-Morrocan mezzo-soprano Ahlima Mhamdi studied in Chatillon and Paris before finishing her operatic and vocal studies at the CNSMD in Lyon, where she was taught by Isabelle Germain and Fabrice Boulanger and from where she graduated with distinction. Ahlima was admitted t

o the Opera Studio at the Opéra de Lyon for the 2011/12 season. She was named ‘Révélation lyrique de l’ADAMI’ for 2013 and ‘Jeune Talent lyrique 2013’ by Raymond Duffaut at the opera theatre in Avignon.

Ahlima’s most recent roles have included Flora La Traviata at the Chorégies d’Orange and Opéra de Nice, and the title rôle in Carmen for the National Opera of Belarus and for the Festival Alden Biesen,

From 2013 to 2016, Ahlima was part of the Jeune Troupe of the Grand Théâtre de Genève, where she sang Preziosilla La Forza del destino, Fenena Nabucco, Martine Le Médecin malgré lui, Maddalena Rigoletto, Meg Page Falstaff, Schwertleite Die Walküre, Charlotte La Grande Duchesse de Gérolstein, and Afra La Wally.

Ahlima has also sung several rôles in France including Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Isolier Le Comte Ory, Arsamene Serse, Orlovsky Die Fledermaus, Charlotte Werther, Mrs Quickly Falstaff and Anita West Side Story, working with big names such as Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Alain Garichot, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and Jean Lacornerie.

In concert, Ahlima has sung a huge variety of répertoire, from baroque to contemporary music. This répertoire has included the Vivaldi Gloria, the Mozart and Duruflé Requiem, the Dvorak Stabat Mater, Beethoven’s Symphony Number 9, Brahms’ Alto Rhapsody and Vier Lieder nach T. Berhnhard by Luca Antignani.

Ahllima is also already an experienced recitalist, having sung at the Opéra d’Avignon, Opéra de Saint Etienne, the Auditorium de Lyon, the Salle Molière, Les Bouffes du Nord, l’Amphithéâtre de l’Opéra de Lyon, la Basilique de Fourvière, les Subsistances and le Palais de l’Europe.

Future projects include Mercedes Carmen at the Théatre des Champs-Élysées, and Smeton Anna Bolena for Opéra Grand Avignon.
